7 Reasons Your Sphynx Cat Sleeps So Many Hours - Part 5!

It’s totally normal for your cat to sleep anywhere between 12 to 18 hours per day (the life, am I right?). Usually, age plays the biggest role in the number of hours your cat sleeps with kittens and older cats sleeping closer to 18 hours. Your cat may also sleep more if they are dealing with a medical condition.

But sometimes a cat can be sleeping more than they should if they are experiencing a high amount of stress or anxiety

Some of the things that may be causing your cat stress or anxiety could be new people in your home, other new pets in the home, recently moving, or changing your schedule. Something as simple as moving your furniture around can cause your cat to feel stressed as well as vet appointments for a new medical condition - any changes of this nature could be causing additional stress or anxiety for your kitty which may lead to them increasing the hours they sleep each day.

Now of course many of these scenarios are not preventable and a normal part of life, but it does help to be aware of how sensitive our cats tend to be to change so you can take preventative measures to try to alleviate their stress and anxiety and help them to be calm and comfortable.

There are some really great stress and anxiety remedies on the market that can help to calm your kitty during periods of change or high-stress.

So today’s cat tip is even though our cats are definitely slumber junkies, make sure you’re aware of your cat’s typical sleeping schedule so you will know immediately if they are sleeping excessively to look and see if you can identify a potential source of stress or anxiety.

Be sure to talk to your veterinarian to reach out to a holistic practitioner for some natural anxiety support solutions.

Keep giving your pets the best of natural life!
