7 Reasons Your Sphynx Cat Is Sleeping So Many Hours - Part 7!

We have made it to the end of our sleep series! I hope you have enjoyed learning about all the possible reasons why your sphynx cat may be sleeping more than usual. Today we are going to explore one final reason why your cat may be sleeping so much!

If your kitty is sleeping more hours than usual, especially during the day when they are usually active, you may want to consider that your cat may have an infection or a wound, or some type of injury that they are dealing with.

A few things that could happen that may cause your cat to sleep a bit more due to injury or infection are:

  • Cats jumping from high surfaces onto the floor causing a muscle tear or ligament strain that will cause them to sleep more to rest and recover.
  • Your cat could have a wound somewhere on their body and they aren’t feeling well because their immune system has kicked into high-gear to heal.
  • They could have some kind of bacterial or viral infection they are fighting off
  • Arthritis is actually a very common cause of discomfort in cats and something you need to be aware of, especially if your cat is 6 years or older.

One of my top recommendations for cats from the age of 6 is to put them onto a good arthritis supplement like pine bark.

So today’s cat tip is while we know our cats like to get their Z’s, if they are sleeping more than usual, please check them out to see if maybe they have injured themself in some way, have a wound or infection, or are dealing with arthritis.

If you suspect something is off with your baby, always err on the side of caution and take them to the vet to be checked out!
