I recently posted on social media about feeding your cat eggs and it has been very popular with lots of questions, so today, I’m going to answer them all for you.
If your cat is allergic to chicken can they eat chicken eggs?
Sometimes. If your cat is highly allergic, they may also be allergic to chicken eggs. Sometimes, however, they can still eat the chicken eggs with no problems. If this is your situation, I would recommend trying them with a small amount of egg and then see if they react to it. You could also do a food sensitivity test beforehand to test for it.
Can you only use quail eggs?
In the video I posted, the woman was feeding her cat quail eggs, but you can feed your cat other types of eggs too. Quail eggs, chicken eggs, duck eggs, and even ostrich eggs if you can find them, are all great options for your kitty that are perfectly safe for them to eat.
How often can you feed your cat eggs?
Just like any other protein source, it’s good to vary what you offer. You probably wouldn’t give your cat chicken or turkey or beef every day of the week so the same is true for eggs. It’s good to rotate to get the maximum nutrition from the food you offer your cat, so I like to recommend that you give them no more than 3 times per week, which is the same as my recommendations for other more common protein sources. You can download our FREE protein rotation schedule HERE.
Do eggs cause cat farts?
If your cat is sensitive to eggs, then yes, it could cause farts. If they don’t have a sensitive tummy, then they're going to digest the egg just fine and leave your air fart-free.
So go on and give eggs a try and let us know in our Facebook group how your kitty enjoyed them.
