We all know how bad plastic is for the environment and it’s best to avoid plastic items wherever you can - and yes, that means your litter box too.

It’s time to toss out those plastic litter boxes folks!

99% of people use a plastic litter box, because until now that’s the only option we knew of, but the saying goes “when you know better, do better” and today I’m going to tell you the best type of litter box to use for your kitty.

Toss out that plastic one and replace it with a high quality steel box like this one: 

Plastic by its very nature is a very porous material and so, all the little pores in the plastic are places where odors and bacteria can seep in making the actual litter box itself become smelly, which will be the least of your worries when the lurking bacteria make your kitty sick.

In addition to this, when our cats use the litter box they scratch to cover up their waste which adds extra furrows and crevices in the plastic so even more bacteria and odor accumulates. 

I think we can all agree - this is just gross!

So if you are using an old school plastic litter box, please throw it out and invest in a stainless steel litter box which is more hygienic and clean for both you and your cats. 

Your nose will appreciate it and so will your cat!
