How Many Hours Should Your Sphynx Cat Be Sleeping?

We all know that cats are infamous for taking lots of cat naps throughout the day, but do you know how many hours your sweet feline friend is actually spending sleeping?

So it’s reported that the average cat sleeps somewhere between 12 and 18 hours per day and this depends on their life stage.

If you have a kitten under a year old, they can sleep as much as 20 hours per day. When cats are very young they need lots of rest while their body is still growing and maturing.

A young, active, adult cat may fall somewhere on the lower end of the scale, sleeping between 12 and 14 hours a day.

An older, senior kitty may be sleeping a bit longer again, roughly around the 16 to 18 hour mark, or even creeping closer to the sleeping hours of a young kitten again.

So today’s cat tip is that it’s completely normal for your cat to be sleeping for as much as 12 to 18 hours per day. But don’t let both of you get lazy - get your kitty up several times a day for a couple of really good play sessions and get them out to explore the world and not spend all of their time just slumbering away in their cozy cat bed.

This is especially important if you want them to sleep through the night and not be waking you up to play!

Remember too, if your kitty is sleeping in direct sunshine for large portions of the day, you need to ensure that their sensitive skin is protected from the harsh rays of the sun. This UV blocking window film is what I use for my own cat, Stubbin as he lounges in his window sun bed.

Keep giving your pets the best of natural life!
