In addition to using a great quality toothpaste and brushing your pet’s teeth at least two times a week, I want to share another product I’ve used that has become my secret weapon.
Plaque Prevention Gel
The gel is called OraVet Gel and you can find it through multiple online retailers, such as Amazon.com and Chewy.com. It comes in little packets with clear gel inside and an applicator that you can use to apply it to your pet’s mouth.
This product is safe for both dogs and cats, and has multiple different microbial ingredients to penetrate deep and eliminate bacteria in your pet’s mouth.
How to Use It
Simply use their applicator or a Q-tip to apply the gel along the outside and inside of your pet’s gum-line.
I personally use this product every time I brush my pet’s teeth. After brushing, I follow up with the gel and I feel like it’s one of the things that makes a really big difference in their dental health.
After Application
After applying the gel, it’s important to remember not to feed your pet. You especially want to avoid any dry food such as treats or kibble.
You should allow the gel to stay on their teeth for as long as possible. After you’ve let the gel sit, you can give them something soft, like a lickable treat, to reward them.
