The ONLY Air Fresheners I’ll Use In My House

After testing countless different products or reading labels, there are only a few select air fresheners I would use in my home around my Sphynx cat or any pets. Below, we'll explore the air fresheners I would use and why.

Let's get started!

Why Should You Be Picky With Air Fresheners When You Have Pets?

Most air fresheners contain ingredients or chemicals that can be harmful to pets. It's common for fragrances to promise that they will eliminate odors when, in actuality, they just mask them. The ingredients most air fresheners contain include phthalates, VOCs, and synthetic fragrances. Some of the harmful ingredients in fragrances can cause symptoms such as skin irritation, headaches, nausea, coughing, sneezing, watery eyes, and respiratory irritation.

Why Are Sphynx Cats Sensitive To Most Air Fresheners?

Hairless cats tend to be more sensitive to environmental factors since they don't have hair. Fragrances, dust, cleaners, and other particles will land directly on their sensitive skin. This can cause their skin to develop blackheads, breakouts, excessive oil, and make their skin chronically irritated. Even if a product claims the fragrance to be “lightly sensitive, it could still be too powerful on their skin. The only air fresheners recommended to use in your home are 100% safe, natural, and completely non-toxic for Sphynx cats and all pets.

In Conclusion

In the end, even though most air fresheners are full of chemicals, there are some out there you can use to ensure your home smells fantastic without irritating your pet. Before you plug in an air freshener or light a candle, make sure you choose one with clean ingredients. Doing what you can to ensure your pet lives in a healthy environment is important, and that includes making sure the air they breathe is pure and toxin-free.
