What Cat Litter Do I Use For My Own Cats?

Cat litter is a subject of hot debate amongst cat parents. We all want a litter that doesn’t track, doesn’t smell, doesn’t need cleaning so often, doesn’t cause our cat’s skin to break out - the list is endless. So many people are looking for the perfect cat litter and there are always new ones coming out that people want to try and compare in the search for that Holy Grail litter that does ALL the things!

One of the questions that I get asked over and over is “What cat litter do you use for your own cats?

So, because my cat Stubbin has pretty significant skin allergies I have to use a hypoallergenic cat litter for him. He can’t tolerate any of the other natural organic cat litters (like paper, pine, wheat, or corn or anything like that). If your cat is like Stubbin, then I recommend using a hypoallergenic litter to limit any allergy flare ups.

The brand I use is Dr. Elsey’s. Stubbin prefers the crystal litter, which I am grateful for because it is less messy than the clay litters. In general crystal litter is better than a clay litter because it doesn’t bind and clump, so there is less risk of intestinal blockage. With a crystal litter, you only need to scoop the solid waste because the crystals absorb the urine, so it's quick and easy to keep clean.

So check out Dr. Elsey’s - they have a range of different litters to try and I highly recommend their products.

Keep giving your pets the best of natural life!
