If you recently got a new pet kitten, it’s a good idea to know when they will start losing their baby teeth. This way, you can be prepared and aware so you’re not surprised when their teeth start falling out.
When Kittens Lose Their Baby Teeth
Kittens usually start to lose their baby teeth somewhere between 3 and a half to 4 months of age.
You may find their baby teeth lying around the house during this timeframe, such as on the floor, your couch, or even on their cat climber. So don’t be alarmed if you have a kitten and stumble upon a random tooth somewhere!
How to Help With the Teething Process
At this age, it’s very critical that you give your kitten appropriate toys they can chew on. Otherwise, they may resort to chewing on your personal belongings, which is something I’m sure you don’t want!
Some great options to search for are:
Kitten or puppy teething rings - you can even find some that can be put in the freezer so they can chew on them cold
Dental sticks - there are silverine sticks for cats and even catnip-flavored sticks
Having things they can safely chew on will ease their pain and irritation during the teething process. So be sure you have some items to help both you and your kitten make it through this stage without ripping your hair out!
If your kitten is teething and you notice they aren’t acting like themselves or maybe even seem a bit stressed, something else you can try is a homeopathic remedy.
We have a natural stress-relief for pets called Rescue Remedy that you can try out here!
