Did you know that the shape of an animal’s teeth is a good indicator of their natural diet?
If you have a cat, you’ll notice they have extremely pointy canines and even have sharp incisors and molars.
Dogs, as well as humans, have some sharp teeth, but not as sharp as cats. And then there are some animals, such as cows, who have completely flat teeth.
What This Means
The more sharp your pet’s teeth are, the more animal protein they should be eating in their diet. Cats have extremely sharp teeth because they are meant to be carnivores. So, they should have a diet that consists mostly of animal protein.
Dogs, on the other hand, should have a diet that is a balance between animal protein and plant matter. Animals with flat teeth should be eating a diet consisting mostly of vegetation.
Just look in your pet’s mouth and you’ll get a pretty good idea of what you should be feeding them!
