It can often be a challenge giving our pets and medications or supplements, sometimes you can easily sneak it into their food or if it is a pill you can use a pill popper to easily pop it down, but what do you do if it is a powdered supplement and your pet will not simply eat it in their meal?
A great little trick I learned a few years ago is you can add the powdered supplement or medication to a bit of oil and create a liquid gel of it which you can then administer directly into their mouth via syringe like any other liquid medication. Good oil choice are:
coconut oil
safflower oil
sunflower oil
olive oil
melted butter
melted ghee
any other melted animal fat like pork, beef, duck etc.
The key is to use the least amount of the oil as possible to allow the powder to completely dissolve to make he administration as quick and easy as possible to your pet.
Hope this trick helps you if this was something you struggled with for your pets!
