It is said that around 30% of cats and dogs are overweight. For many of these pets, vets will recommend a low fat [prescription diet to help bring their weight down. However, vets are always properly trained in nutrition, and a low-fat diet or restricting calories are NOT the best ways to de-chonk your pet!
Feed those Fats!
Fats are actually your pet’s #1 sources of energy, so you don’t want to take too many of those away. The best way to help your dog or cat lose weight is by starting them on a species appropriate balanced diet.
What is a 'species-appropriate diet?'
These diets should be freshly made, gently cooked or even freshly frozen raw. This allows your pet’s body to easily digest and absorb the needed nutrients. On this diet, your pet will gradually lose weight over a period of 6 to 12 months in a much healthier way!
