Thanksgiving Safe Pet Foods!
Which are Pet-Safe Thanksgiving Foods?
If you are like me you want to include your 4-legged babies in your Thanksgiving feast! But be sure you know which foods are pet-safe, and which are not!
My pet-safe turkey day foods list includes:
1. Raw bones (raw only never cooked bones)
2. Raw turkey (as long as it has been prior frozen)
3. Cooked turkey (if cooked without spices; and no deep-fried, or beer birds.)
4. Plain potatoes without spices/garlic, butter and sour cream are okay.
5. Carrots, green beans, peas, cauliflower, broccoli all great!
6. Cranberries, fresh, or dried, but not the canned cranberry sauce.
7. Pumpkin, canned or fresh are great choices, not the pie though.
8. Buttered bread or rolls in small amounts are okay.
9. Fresh fruits like blueberries, raspberries, and apples, orange, peach.
10. Select nuts like almonds, walnuts, peanuts, and their butters.
Which foods to NOT feed to your pets!
1. No cooked bones (cooked bones can splinter and cause intestinal damage.)
2. No turkey skin, drippings, or gravy or other meat fats, (too much fats ingested at once can cause acute pancreatitis.)
3. No spices such as pepper, garlic, onion powder, and many others, best to steer clear of any spices except parsley is safe.
4. No onions, or garlic, so no stuffing if it contains these.
5. No grapes, raisins.
6. No corn on the cob.
7. No pies or pie crust.
8. No bread dough.
9. No alcohol.
10. And of course no chocolate!
I hope this helps all of you thoroughly enjoy your holiday safely with ALL of your family!
