Do you know what type of cat litter is best for your cats?
You may think it doesn’t really matter since it’s just there to use as a toilet, but you couldn’t be more wrong. The type of litter you use can cause lots of issues with your precious kitty if you are not mindful to choose the right one.
When it comes to litter, it is not a case of one size fits all - it really depends on your particular cat and what works best for them.
However, here are some really important things that you need to know to help you decide how to choose the best cat litter for your baby. Over the next few weeks we are going to be deep diving into all things litter to arm you with all the knowledge you need to purchase the best and safest cat litter for your kitty.
ALWAYS stay away from cheap clay cat litters. These inexpensive clay cat litters have often been found to have been contaminated with something called silica crystals and this can produce a very dangerous, life-threatening lung condition in your cats or even in yourself with routine use. Breathing in these crystals over time can cause this condition to develop which can be lifelong and sometimes fatal.
The other downside of these cheap clay litters is that they often contain odor control systems which are made up of a lot of synthetic chemicals to try to block the odor, and this over time can cause harm to your cat who comes into contact with these chemicals multiple times per day while using the litter box. Absorbing these chemicals through their skin or breathing them in can cause disruption in all of the body’s organ systems.
Now not all of these clay litters are bad - there is actually one company that I do recommend their clay litters as a great option for cats who have allergies and that is these cat litter pellets by Breeze.
Stay tuned for more great cat litters…
